Amythest Davis, LCAT, ATR-BC is an Art Therapist who believes that everyone deserves to have a space to be free to express themselves, and is a therapist who strives to provide that exact space to their clients. The pull to be an Art Therapist came early in life when they decided to use art as their primary coping skill throughout their life. Art was how Amythest was able to deal with identity, trauma, and so much more.
Amythest obtained her Masters of Science in Creative Arts Therapy from Nazareth College of Rochester, where she graduated in December of 2016. Following, Amythest got licensed in New York State and obtained the national Board Certification as an Art Therapist. She also became trained in DBT and other modalities throughout her professional life so that she can use multiple approaches in the therapy space.
Clients who work with Amythest would benefit from their work together by being able to build a space of safety, learn to manage difficult emotions such as depression and anxiety; be their most authentic self and express their identity, and learn how to advocate for themselves so that they can express their truest self to the world. Clients will be able to express what they need from others as well as themselves and live their lives more authentically.
Younger clients, such as children and adolescents, have their own needs, as many of them also need support from their parents, who may also need a safe space for guidance. Amythest is able to work with these clients, their parents or guardians, and provide not only the care that the client may need, but parental coaching to those that bring the client, to ensure success in and out of the therapy room.
Amythest uses Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Trauma Informed Care, and Person-Centered approaches to work with a variety of people and concerns.
Amythest works with children, adolescents, and adults. Amythest uses many approaches to cater to the individuality of a person, working under the belief that there is not one mode of therapy that works for everyone that Amythest would serve.
Clients that are seen come with a variety of concerns, including but not limited to: LGBTQIA+ concerns, children’s mental and behavioral health, depression, anxiety, trauma, and more. She is here to provide a safe space for all identities, walks of life, and challenges.
