Beth Humby, MS, LCAT is a NYS licensed Creative Arts Therapist who obtained her Master of Science in Art Therapy from Nazareth College of Rochester and has been working in the social service field for over 18 years.
Beth believes that the art making process has innate healing properties and is process over product oriented. She uses a holistic, collaborative, person centered and strength based approach to addressing individualized needs, but can adapt her approaches to the needs of her clients.
She enjoys working with children, adolescents, and young adults who have experienced trauma (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy specialty), anxiety, depression, mood disorders, adjustment disorder as well as those who are SED.
Her creative arts treatment strategy is built on the importance of a therapeutic relationship that includes genuine respect, support, acceptance, and empathy in order to help instill purpose, hope, and self-worth with her clients.
Beth also treasures the everyday value of her Christian faith and can provide faith based creative arts therapy if desired. When not working Beth enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, volunteering, and spending time with her family and close friends. Beth’s creative interests include ceramics/wheel throwing, watercolor, using Photoshop for creating digital art and invitations, and crafting.
“Art making heals the body, soothes the mind, and transforms the spirit to be used by anyone, even those without the slightest trace of artistic ability, in order to create profound changes in their lives and activate healing at the deepest levels.” -Barbara Ganim author Art and Healing
