Caitlin is a New York State Licensed and Board Certified Arts Therapist with an educational background in fine art and a specialization in textiles and illustration. Caitlin obtained her Masters of Science in Creative Arts Therapy in 2020 from Nazareth College. Caitlin’s experience within mental health agencies includes providing services for individuals and group work with teens and adults. Professionally, Caitlin offers clients therapeutic services for grief and loss, anxiety, mood disorders, medical trauma, neurocognitive disorders and substance use disorders.
Caitlin incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person Centered and Existential approaches. Believing life experiences bring health, happiness, love and purpose, with the inevitability that people will have difficulty coping with hardships and struggles sometime in their lives. Her goal as an art therapist is to provide a place to share, connect and heal. Caitlin supports her clients by being genuine and empathetic as they explore who they are and where they are while re-establishing hope, choice, safety, self care and meaning to their lives.
Prior to learning about art therapy in 2010 Caitlin moved from Charleston, South Carolina to Upstate New York where she taught fashion illustration as an adjunct instructor at Cazenovia College. Caitlin’s art has been featured and sold in local art galleries and businesses in the Finger Lakes. Along with artmaking a few of Caitlin’s favorite things are traveling, the outdoors, renaissance festivals (in costume), hydroponics, sewing and being with her family and friends.
